In My Mailbox (2) February 2012

IMM was created by The Story Siren.

How IMM works:

  1. Make your own IMM post! I post every week, but you don’t have to. You can do one week out of the month or every other week it’s up to you. Be sure to link back to The Story Siren blog, so that other people wanting to participate know where to get the information to do so!
  2. I post my IMM on Sunday, but choose a day of the week that works for you.
  3. Once you have your IMM posted, come back to The Story Siren on Sunday and add your link to the list.
  4. Try to post a comment on other bloggers IMM posts. I don’t expect you to post a comment on every single one, but pick a few!
  5. All book bloggers are welcome, while I’d like to keep the theme to YA literature it’s NOT a requirement.

There is no right or wrong way to do In My Mailbox, you can vlog, you can take fun picture, you can use the books cover art, it’s up to you!

Been a long time since I did an IMM. (I’ve been slacking I know.) I really to get back into doing these.

So…I broke my book buying ban. But! I was really close to completing it. I needed to finish 1 more book.

But I received 3 books in February. 2 I bought from Ollies and 1 I received from PaperbackSwap.

“The Download was supposed to change the world. It was supposed to mean the end of aging the end of death, the birth of a new humanity. But it wasn’t supposed to happen to someone like Lia Kahn. And it wasn’t supposed to ruin her life. Lia knows she should be grateful she didn’t die in the accident. The Download saved her–but it also changed her, forever. She can deal with being a freak. She can deal with the fear in her parents’ eyes and the way her boyfriend flinches at her touch. But she can’t deal with what she knows, deep down, every time she forces herself to look in the mirror: She’s not the same person she used to be. Maybe she’s not even a person at all.”

“Vi knows the Rule: Girls don’t walk with boys, and they never even think about kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the Rules more than Zenn…and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi’s future match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself. But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they’re set on convincing Vi to become one of them…starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can’t leave Zenn in the Thinkers’ hands, but she’s wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous–everything Zenn’s not. Vi can’t quite trust Jag and can’t quite resist him, but she also can’t give up on Zenn. This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no choice but to play.”

“She is pretty and talented – sweet sixteen and never been kissed. He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future. And now they have fallen in love. But… they are brother and sister. Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives—and the way they understand each other so completely—has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending.”

    • I like the cover for forbidden as well, the barbed wire on the cover is sort of raised and it’s a really nice cover. Hopefully I like the book as much as I do the cover. ;]

    • I had been reading reviews for forbidden for about two months now and I saw it and picked it up. Possession I just happened to come across. Haha hopefully I do. You read any good books lately?

  1. I loved all three of those books and I hope you do too! 🙂 I like this method of IMM too – it’s easier to do, and it’s easier to do a roundup for a whole month in case you don’t have the time to do it week by week. I should consider trying it out. 😀

    My IMM this week!

    • Yay! Hopefully I enjoy these three books as well. And, yes I don’t receive enough books to do an IMM every week, and by not doing an IMM every week I have more time to do different posts. You should. =]

    • Same here. I’ve always loved butterflies and I think the cover is beautiful. I agree, Forbidden has been talked about or at least I’ve seen posts about it for months. I’m not really afraid of controversial things so I thought I would give it a shot. Thanks. =]
